Limit on Foreign Players

An idea I've discussed with a few people, is a cap on the amount of foreign players a team can have, to be introduced next season. With rosters of 7, I think a limit of 3 foreign players is fair. This season we've seen some teams have no UK players. For a UK league, I find that astounding.

So, would you support a foreign player cap?

It doesnt effect you or anyone else if a team is full of non English players does it? If it does then tell me why it does?

Maybe English haxball players need to step there game up, maybe then more will be picked and scouted for teams..

And having a foreign player cap wouldn't stop them doing that. But, in my opinion, our priority should be on UK based players and giving them an opportunity to play competitively. If there are spaces being taken up by foreign players, then they're being denied that opportunity.

I can see his point. A few teams are mostly foreign now, but it's the same in the premiership for football.

Just leave no cap, but if you win with an all UK team then happy days.

This is to reserve the league some uniqueness and have 4 players on each team being originals of the league.

If the British players were good enough they'd get signed ahead of the foreign players, but they're not, so foregin players get signed. This is a good thing as it raises the skill level and forces the British players to get better. As Aidan said there's no responsibility on captains to sign British players anyway, it's up to you who you sign and you're so annoyed by it then sign the British players. and look how much foreign players have done for the league: given us a TS server, invited us to CL, IHL etc. If it wasn't for foreign players the league wouldn't be where it is now. You shouldn't be looking to lower the quality and cut down on foreign players, you should be looking to improve the British players.

If the stage is reached where there are many players just turning up for league games & playing little or no role in the community side of things here, i think that would be a shame for the site in general - but that's just my opinion.

That's not the case though. Plenty of foreign players host rooms (Vargo does it all the time). Attax got us involved with your e-sports(whose TS server we use) and with the national circuit. Girgensons pointed out the IHL to us.

The foreign players contribute just as much as your rank and file UK player.

Foreign players have added to FM and improved it. Does it matter if they live in another country? A lot of the foreign players in the league are active members of FM like any of us.

Besides, some of the best UK players have stopped playing (Chef/smiley/Donny/Alec) and a lot of good players don't have the time to play. We can't replace them by dropping quality.

Some teams have no foreign players in their team out of choice (ARRIBA/DEJA) and it should stay a choice in my opinion.

Once again I disagree with this, I am sure everyone will sign a player no matter what nationality they're from as long as they are good players, and I've played in pub rooms and I just can't seem to find a single quality British player.

The problem is that foreign players are already playing in more skilled leagues than us so thats why our captains obviously want to sign them, good players aren't everything though unless they have chemistry especially in 4v4.

Another problem is that UK players don't play as much I think and we don't really have many stand out players, it's players that play lots that have improved and are now some of our best, saying that though there is plenty of UK players with potential just lack of time and people have no interest in training them over a period of time.

I am sure that this is a 'Friendly Multi-Cultural Community', we are here to play hax and have some fun. Ideas such as opc's would bring negativity and segregation amongst us and give us a bad name around other leagues in the world. I don't mind this idea when we are playing in the CL, IHL and etc. As we'd want British players to represent Britain in those international elite leagues. But with in our own league bringing a rule of capping on foreign players is absurd. The problem isn't the foreign players, its like what Mad says there aren't many british players who spend time haxin and to improve themselves. That's their problem and their problem only. Bringing foreign players in who are friendly and just want to hax there is no problem with it at all

In the bit I bolded, he was saying it's easier for captains to sign established foreign players rather than take the time to train up british players who have the potential to be as good as the aforementioned foreign players.

Still I don't understand why we have to make the line in the foreigner players, why don't we make that line in the sex of the people? I know that's important promote the Haxball among the British people, but more important is promote it among the women: they are less so they are more discriminated here.

With Rachel here as only one woman, the ratio man/woman is 387:1, why don't we force all the teams have 3 women in their teams?

So please, more sex and less "astounding" discussions.

PS. Of course I'm against of any kind of limits, I don't feel here as a foreigner because of most of you, that's why I prefer to play in UK before than in Spain. Please don't throw to the bin that what make you the best.

you'd be foolish to sign a stand out amazing foreign player but if they're not active you're screwed, but obviously if they're active then go for it. If i was cap, i'd rather have a decent ative english player than an amazing foreigner cos like mad said, it's all about the chemisty + understanding in 4s
