Design the new look FM
So as you've probably heard, we're looking to move from these forums to a paid host allowing us to have our own main site which integrates everything from FM into one place. For us to get the most benefit out of this, we need a design for the site that really establishes us as a credible league by looking great and also being easy to use.
I know there's some talented graphics peoples in this community, so if you want to have your mark on FM this is your chance. The reward for your effort is not only having your design as the image of FM, but you'll also get granted premium access on the new site that will give you access to extra features.
To show your design I would suggest designing what the league table page would look like (see current table for layout idea. top scorers & assisters could also be displayed on the same page if there's room).
For inspiration you can have a look at these other haxball sites: german league, russian league, northern haxball league, australia/nz league
Good luck!
inb4 no one bothers

Re: Design the new look FM
Maybe it would be possible to use a buyable league script which is ready to use and already designed? I don't know what you expect or hope for and I don't know whether here are talented designers but it probably might be quite difficult to find one who is able to do such great work to mess with the other, bigger international leagues.
Furthermore I can tell you that even the main league site of your-esports is a buyable league-script which is ready to use: http://www.ligascript.net/de_DE/premiumLeagueScript/screenshots
Maybe it would be worth to keep an eye on such possibilities if you are willing to pay for it.
I don't know your plans, so just my 2 cents. Hopefully at least a bit helpful ones. :----)

Don't think many would bother. Try asking real pros at this link? (Not intending that we don't have great graphics designers already)

Looking at the code for that site (haxball.ru), it's been designed using Joomla, and their theme is from yootheme.com.
I suppose that raises the question, should the site be primarily a forum like our current one, or do we want a portal like the russian site?

It's not so automatic, but would be more personal.
That's only an idea, you can change the colours, fonts, sizes, order, add badgets... etc. Excel lets a lot of options, even create macros for automatize the most possible.
I upload as well the Excel to let you see how it works:

This isn't actually it, ofc Sparta wouldn't be in relegation zone, but CL zone. Never the less.
I like the design its really good. Leks, and booba's suggestion is great too, but it will cost. Ohhhhh well.

Difference between other leagues and us is. In all them links jonny posted, the table is on the home screen, meaning league and statistics is that league's main priority. FM is more of a community than a league, so I like the current design, a chatbox and forums in the home page

yeah, tbh that's the reason made me being more and more active here. the community feeling is very strong and it seems to be a very familiar community which isn't the case in the other big leagues. people are chillin in their teams there and playing friendlies, while feed me is playing public, choosing their teammates and they don't care in which team the other one is. i like it a lot.
In my opinion it will be a resentful (is it right) decision in which way feed me wants to develop. I think you should keep the structure and stay a community which is playing haxball together.
This is what makes FM special and interesting.

Re: Design the new look FM
Well, tbf that is quite an easy thing to say.
In other leagues people like playing with there team - This is because in other leagues they play 4 v 4.
3 v 3 is dead now - If anyone's noticed when playing in public 4 v 4 is such a bitch. This is simply due to 4 v 4 being much more team oriented and much more about collectivity then individuality. So of course its natural, when playing 3 v 3 everyone can play with each other it doesn't matter - But when its 4 v 4, much like 11 v 11 soccer in the real world, we like to play with our team.
Sure 7 v 7 we can mix teams up a bit play for fun, but when its 11 v 11 we see its completely different. We need dicipline, organization, much more team work.
This similarly applies to hax - 3 v 3 play with all doesnt matter who your in a team with (except for uber noobs) but 4 v 4 you'll instantly see the difference.
We'll see what happens next season when FeedMe is 4 v 4.
It will be tense and i think the community factor will 'dissapear' a bit with teams favoring and prioritizing to play in there own teams then with others.
Which is a good thing as it promotes even more competetiveness, which is important in a healthy league

lol pedy, but that's exactly what I don't want for Feed Me... Feed me is primiraly a community and in my opinion they should concentrate on keeping the community factor. I wouldn't change anything tbh because it fits perfectly for such a community.
Furthermore we aren't discussing about the mode (4v4 or 3v3) but about a possible new layout for the website...

Perhaps you misunderstood the intention of my post.
The community factor will disappear bit by bit once the mode (4v4)takes place.
And that is exactly why the new layout should have a front page instead of a forum, where people can see standings top scorer etc right when they enter the feed me league.
Now you could have a feedme community too (this forum) but the league should be seperated from the community.
lol booba.

No, feed me would become uniform compared to all the other leagues. In my opinion they should keep what makes them special. It's important to differ.
I don't believe that 4v4 definitely has to cause a decrease of the community feeling.
Please, dear admins, keep it small and familiar as FM is.

Re: Design the new look FM
Also, Booba, there's a 'community' in other leagues as well.
Let's take the Russian league as an example. It's huge. There's 3 divisions with 16 to 21 teams in each division. There's also the Ukrainian league, the Belarusian league and another league that are all integrated within that league site. That's not counting the Hockey league and the Saturday Cup league.
They've got thousands of players and a shitload of teams and they have the same little inside jokes, memes and slang and what not that we do.
If it's well organized, you don't have to keep it 'small'.
Why is Bundesliga the best European haxball league (not counting Turkey or Russia here)? Is it because they have the best community? Or is it because they've got the best management/organization and the best site?
The current draft system (I don't think it's about 3v3 or 4v4) in the league evens out the skill level between teams, but it doesn't help attracting top talent.
Basically, instead of trying to become the best European hax league and trying to compete by providing a better site and better organization (given that most people here are native English speakers FM has a huge advantage in this respect), you want to settle for average.
But, hey, at least we'll have a chatbox.

It wouldn't take that much effort seeing as the admins have looked into a way of just transferring everything. A new forum would have more of a professional look than this. We could have a home page and then a link to the new forum and chatbox. Everything that makes people like the current forum would be there. Nothing that would stop us having a Community that way.

Exactly, that is the best option.
I dont feel like FM is so special tbh when compared to other leagues.
It's unique in its own ways and it has its own personality, but as girge mentioned, so do other leagues/communities.
Instead the focus should be on how to make an even more competitive league.

Read this -
This new site will also enable us to make squad management and results to be posted, done quicker and more efficiently which cuts down a lot of work and simplifies it all, another main reason is we will incorporate the league site and statistics in this forum instead of an external site.
If it'll be easier and quicker on a new site for admins then thats a good thing. They don't get paid to put their time in on this site. Also been said that Jonny's exhausted what can be done on this site, so this is as far as it will go.

Just want to make it clear that the new site is not aiming to take away any of the community aspect of FM. Nothing will change in that regard.
