Matchday 3 review Empty Matchday 3 review

Post by Guest Mon 10 Oct 2011, 19:12

Matchday 3 produced many thrills and spills once again, of Feed Me Haxball Community Season 1 fixtures. For some, perhaps it was third time lucky, but for others, this was not the case. With 17 goals to get through, I think that we'd better get straight to it all!. So, beginning with Cathletico's vc ARRIBA...

    Cathletico 1-2 ARRIBA

A closely contested match brought the most out of both teams. Both had to give their all to try and claim the points. ARRIBA raced into a lead on 2:43, going ahead through a loose ball being picked up by deerhaunter. He squeezed the ball cleverly goalwards, which hit off both opc and Maddude before going on its way in. Just before halftime though, Cathletico equalized, with an astute finish from Maddude, which wrongfooted the oncoming F1 in goal. So, they went into the halftime interval a one a piece.

For the vast majority of the second half, both teams were shutting each other out. A goal was not forseeable, with both teams defending well. However, on 8 minutes, a goal mouth scramble led to the ball dropping to deerhaunter. He calmly and cleverly clipped to ball to the side of the goalkeeper, sending ARRIBA 2-1 up. From then on, ARRIBA held on for a vital victory, and now they can look forward to their fixture against Circleboy's. Unfortunately for Cathletico though, they will have a wait that will seem to last an eternity, before they can have another crack to pick themselves up again.

    Deja Entendudes 1-3 CircleBoys

A hardly fought game from both perspectives, where ever so much was at stake for both teams. Deja were going into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat from Cathleticos, but beforehand, they had beaten the Leftovers 5-1. CircleBoys were looking to build on a 3-0 victory over Cathletico in the previous week, and keep their momentum going.

CircleBoys kicked the game off. Just 25 seconds in, Deja broke the deadlock. A defying, astute ball from the ever present GOKU wrongfooted CircleBoy, who perhaps commited too early to the cross. From there, rising was on hand to just wait, and eventually poke the ball in literally right in front of the goal. Game on.

In most of the first half, the CircleBoys team were all over the place, commiting lacklustre defending, and not sticking to positions. But there was a big improvement from the 3rd minutes until the end of the half. Aidan and V-11 were trying desperately hard in the opposition box in search for an equalizer. For a long time, Deja could not clear the ball out of their half.

Finally though, a breakthrough came with just 15 seconds prior to the half time interval. A clever, defying through ball from CircleBoy evaded both GOKU and rising. It was picked up just past the halfway line by V-11, who dribbled further into the half. Then, he took a shot at the goalkeeper Alec Baldwin, who couldn't keep hold of the shot, and his palm away led straight to Aidan, who deflected the ball into the net. Scrappy it was, it still meant a lot in determining the game's outline, and it gave CircleBoy's the confidence to go further on.

Halftime saw the introduction of DEVINURDOG, who has proved himself as a pacy forward. He replaced Aidan. Then the second half kicked off with heavy pressure from Deja, who were determined to established their lead back again. Halfway through, a clearance from Circleboy back cannoned off V-11. It was heading goalwards into his own net, but DEVINURDOG was thankfully there to prevent it from happening. Then, on 3:28, some pressure from CircleBoys began. DEINURDOG chased down Alec Baldwin, who was in possession of the ball. As Alec Baldwin attempted to play a ball through to the left wing, DEVINURDOG intercepted it. His interception hit off the wall, and met V-11, who was on hand to slot the back home into an empty net. Now the Deja's really had to do something.

But then, again on 3:57, a loose ball was picked up by DEVINURDOG. He spotted V-11 making an angular run down the line, and played a great ball to him. V-11 camly slotted it past the oncoming Alec Baldwin. That wrapped up the victory for CircleBoys, who were relieved.

Close towards the end, there was more pressure from CircleBoys, but the Deja Entendudes defended well. Then the match was over. Well played to both teams.

So, it's another dissappointing defeat for Deja, but CircleBoys are looking to keep the momentum going, with a game against ARRIBA on Thursday.

    Leftovers 2-8 NWA

In a high scoring game, the NWA outclassed the not-so-fancied Leftovers. Leftovers were without the absent Starfox, and NWA were short of the impressive Rachel A lot of the first half was spent in the Leftovers half, who showed resilient defending. However, NWA made the breakthrough on 3:28 when thor91 pounced on a mistake by 4fun, and slotted it in to an empty net. Leftovers shortly equalized though. A brilliant ball from Mick was played through to Griffin, who calmly slotted the ball in to the back of the net. Haltime arrived, and both teams were feeling the pressure. The half-time arrived.

No changes were made at halftime, obviously. So the second half kicked off, and it promised to be a great one. NWA took the lead immediately on 28 seconds, with a wall bounce mistake by 4fun leading to a simple tap in for mc smiley. 26 seconds later, thor91 picked up a loose ball, and finished brilliantly into the far corner of the net. Mistakes led to yet another goal, from mc smiley who tapped in from closed range, capitalizing on another defensive error. Then another mistakes led to an unfortunate own goal, Mick deflected into his own net from a thor91 cross. Leftovers were defending very badly, and an attempted clearance from Griffin led to the ball ending up in his own net. Chef even scored, slotted well in from a loose ball being played across the back. One final goal from NWA was where thor91 delivered a good ball over to mc smiley, to tap in again. Leftovers had the final say though, with Griffin capitaliing on a miscontrol by Chef, for Mick to slot home in to and empty net.

So, it's quite a satisfying victory for NWA, whereas the Leftovers have to do some more waiting to make a breakthrough. Final score Leftovers 2-8 NWA.

Let's see how the scoring chart looks after the third day of action:

deerhaunter: 9 goals in 3 appearances
    V-11: 5 goals in 2 appearances
    thor91: 4 goals in 2 appearances
mc smiley: 4 goals in 2 appearances
rising: 4 goals in 3 appearances

Goal of the week: thor91's brilliant effort into the far corner of the net vs the Leftovers
Player of the week: In my opinion - thor91, with 3 goals and 3 assists
Shock of the week: the Leftovers equalizing against NWA just before half time.

I think that it's safe to say, that it's been another excellent day of matches. Thanks for reading, and please share your thoughts below. See you next time! Very Happy

    As usual, good write up.

However, "Then, he took a shot at the goalkeeper Alec Baldwin, who couldn't keep hold of the shot, and his palm away led straight to Aidan, who deflected the ball into the net". I Rising was involved in this somehow.
